RUSH HOUR: Bicyclist struck on West Main Street… [VIDEO]
HYANNIS – Barnstable Police are investigating an accident where a bicyclist was injured and sent to CCH.
At about 5:30PM, police rushed to West Main Street near the entrance to the Sturgis Charter School and Stop & Stop Gas Station. Hyannis Rescue was already working on the patient when police arrived on scene.
The male bicyclist, estimated to be in his thirties, was transported to CCH. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
The vehicle which struck the bike appeared to have been westbound and making a left turn into the charter school entrance, at a time of day when the sun is low in sky… (It has not been officially determined whether or not the sun’s glare may have been a factor in today’s accident.)
Traffic was backed up in both directions and had to be briefly detoured around the scene.
A Sheriffs Department photographer was called to document the scene, as well as the patient’s injuries at CCH.
Barnstable Police are investigating the accident and HN will provide additional details as they become available.
