Early this morning, at approximately 3:05 a.m. Tisbury units received a report of an unmanned boat circling the waters in the area of West Chop.
Approximately five minutes later Oak Bluffs Police were dispatched to the beach on Temahigan Ave for a report of a boat that crashed into a dock. Officers responded and located an unoccupied 26 foot center console completely out of the water crashed on shoreline rocks and resting against a dock.
An investigation by Oak Bluffs and Tisbury units and the US Coast Guard revealed two individuals were operating the boat in Vineyard Haven outer harbor when they collided with a boat that was anchored. The collision forced the two individuals overboard while the boat continued to operate.
The two individuals were able to get on to another boat after being forced into the water. The US Coast Guard located the individuals and brought them to shore. Both individuals declined on medical treatment.
Tisbury Police have arrested one individual in connection with the accident.
