BPD: 33-year-old West Yarmouth man charged with 12 new felonies after caught climbing out office window… had 68 prior adult entries on his BOP record… [HN VIDEO]
BARNSTABLE – As you will see in the following HN Video, police arrested a 33-year-old West Yarmouth man on multiple felonies after he was reportedly caught red-handed climbing out a window from an office he had just allegedly broken into.
According to Barnstable Patrolman Michael Lima’s report, just minutes after midnight Friday morning – 9/21/2018 – he was dispatched to the Village Green Apartments at 767 Independence Drive for a “back office motion alarm.”
As he walked to the back of the apartment complex’s office building, he reportedly observed a white male climbing out a rear window. Patrolman Lima recognized the man as Stephen Ebersold.
Patrolman Lima immediately lit up Ebersold with his flashlight, drew his service weapon, and identified himself as a Barnstable Police Officer.
But according to the report, this didn’t stop Ebersold who continued to walk towards Officer Lima…
Backup officers quickly arrived and Ebersold finally decided to listen to commands and get on the ground, where Patrolman Lima handcuffed the suspect with the assistance of Barnstable Patrolman Maher.
Ebersold reportedly denied what Patrolman Lima said he had just witnessed, saying, “I don’t know what you’re talking about; you didn’t see me near the window.”
At that point, Ebersold reportedly refused to talk any more about the incident and was transported back to BPD Headquarters for booking.
As you will see in the following HN Video, officers found numerous broken and cut window screens, broken glass, and a broken window in the wide open position.
Based on office surveillance video and other evidence gathered at the scene, Stephen Ebersold, age 33, of West Yarmouth, was charged with Breaking & Entering Nighttime with Intent to Commit a Felony, and 11 felony counts of Injury to Real or Personal Property.
Officer Lima later learned Stephen Ebersold had a BOP with 68 adult entries… 19 of which are B&E Nighttime… and the most recent being a B&E on 9/11/2018. Ebersold is currently on probation from 5/22/2018 to 8/26/2020.
The following HN Video highlights the crime scene just moments after Ebersold was placed into a BPD squad car…
