“Little Ant” taken down on Armed Robbery charges…
Hyannis – Anthony “Little Ant” Russ was picked up late last night on a felony warrant for Armed Robbery related to an incident which occurred two days ago in the East end of Hyannis.
Sunday afternoon, Barnstable Police responded to an emergency call at 71 Main Street. The details of the call involved a knife, a robbery, and our infamous Anthony “Little Ant” Russ.
While responding, patrol officers also learned Little Ant had just fled the scene towards Crocker Street, on the run and reportedly still armed with the knife. (Little Ant remained on the run until he was picked up on last night’s warrant arrest.)
Hyannis News responded this past Sunday, took photos, and observed Sergeant Ben Baxter along with Patrolman Mark Delaney, plus another patrol officer deeply engaged in conversation with an adult male and an adult woman to the rear of the apartments located at 71 Main Street. [see top photo]
It should be of no surprise to HyannisNews.com readers that whenever the name “Little Ant” is mentioned in the same sentence with any particular weapon or sharp object, that it is highly probable something serious occurred, most likely involving felony charges to be named shortly thereafter.
Covering the always favorable odds of “The Ant” picking up another felony is always a safe bet. Yet the payoff, unfortunately, will only entitle you to a brief trip to Barnstable District Court where you can watch the next clown show… the one where one of our liberal Judges will affectionately play patty-cakes with Mr. Russ, setting him free once again without regard for the safety of the public…
Because please recall it wasn’t too long ago, just 2 short months in fact, when Little Anthony was charged with pushing H, only to be let free on a measly $10,000 cash bail despite the recommendations of the Commonwealth to hold him for at least ten times that amount…. click here for the original story entitled “Just what makes that ‘Little old Ant’ think he can move that Il-Legal plant”
Yep, according to court records, Judge Kirkman had “high apple pie in the sky hopes” for Little Ant when he let him free on mere pocket change just two short months ago… [click here for that story]
And was Kirkman correct to give poor Little Anthony another break back then?
Well if gunshots are a good grading system for inept district court Judges, I would say Kirkman scores high on the ineptness scale… and he may also have some explaining to do… because HyTown has been riddled with bullets ever since Little Ant last happily scampered down the front steps of Barnstable District Court, a free Ant…
There have been plenty of bullets and too many coincidences involving the name “Anthony Russ.”
I personally grade Judge Kirkman with an F, for “F*** no! You just didn’t go ahead and let that little psychopath back out on our streets again!”
… because in just two short months Little Ant has been implicated or likely involved in two cases where shots were fired; the first time was when a young woman miraculously survived with relatively minor injuries after showing up at Cape Cod Hospital with a gunshot wound. According to speculation on the street, Little Ant may have actually been the intended target in that first shooting… click here for the original breaking story entitled “Shots fired, wounded woman arrives at CCH after “ambush,” “Little Ant” remains suspect…” Also, click here for a video recap of the scene where Little Ant was questioned…
Little Ant’s name was also bandied about just days later in the second shooting where 14 shots were fired, yet nobody was hit, thank God. It is believed Little Ant’s involvement in the second shooting may have been retaliatory in nature, however police still are not entirely sure as witnesses have reportedly been less than cooperative. Click here for a more up-to-date account of the recent shootings…
So I have a question: Including tonight’s charges of ARMED ROBBERY WITH A KNIFE, plus Little Ant’s likely involvement in two recent incidents where bullets were fired, including numerous other recent interactions with police, one involving a trespass notice… all this within the last two short months… plus Little Ant’s extensive criminal history where he pleaded guilty to shooting a .45 caliber handgun into a Hyannis home in a densely populated family neighborhood… (where he got off with just another ‘slap on the wrist’)… plus also being implicated in at least one past murder and several other forms of violent criminal mischief… plus a past charge of beating up a corrections officer… plus numerous past motor vehicle infractions… plus a reputation for intimidating witnesses… plus… plus…. plus… I’m getting sick and tired of listing Little Ant’s résumé of past criminal “accomplishments…”
… so in relation to all this, I have just one little question: Am I being too tough on the court system that continuously lets this thug back out to prey on the citizens of Hyannis?
I’ll let you be the judge, Lord knows we need better ones than the careless idiots we have right now…
… or maybe, just maybe, the court will prove me wrong later this morning at Little Ant’s arraignment… Maybe this arraignment will be different. One where justice will finally be served for the benefit and safety of our community.
Hopefully tomorrow’s judge will see Little Ant for what he is, a dangerous and volatile ticking time bomb who is recklessly flirting with racking up another murder charge.
If Little Ant is finally kept off our streets, I will gladly owe our Judges and court system a sincere apology and recognition where it is due.
This is one case where I would love to apologize for being ‘wrong.’
In fact, I hope I’m wrong. Little Ant needs to be safely kept where he belongs, behind bars.
