SOUTH YARMOUTH – A young man, described as being 25-years-old, was ejected and found laying on the ground after his pickup truck left the roadway, hit a large tree and fences, before landing in a thicket of brush.
When HN arrived at the scene on Wood Road this morning at about 1:00AM, firefighters were working on the young man on the ground next to his vehicle. His vehicle had crossed several front yards before finally coming to a stop.
As you will see in the video, the young man was quickly loaded into an ambulance and taken to Barnstable Municipal Airport, where he was airlifted to a Rhode Island area trauma center.
Back at the scene, a Yarmouth Police reconstruction team was investigating. The mangled truck was eventually removed from the brush and hauled away…
The patient appeared to have severe head injuries… his condition was severe and life-threatening, but further details were unknown at the time of this report…
