*** WATCH *** PURSUIT ON THE MID-CAPE: Woman arrested at gunpoint after troopers used spike strips to deflate tires…
BARNSTABLE – [HN NOTES] – The video starts off with HN Dashcam footage mixed in with actual radio transmissions between troopers, including the Barnstable Police. As you will hear in the audio, at about 10:40pm last evening, a state police unit was dispatched to Route 6 eastbound in the area of Exit 2 after receiving calls about a woman stopping and vomiting in the middle of the highway.
Minutes later, a state police unit announced he was behind the vehicle but it was not stopping. According to the trooper, the vehicle drove off the road a few times. It was near shift change for the state police and they had a number of cruisers in the area. Barnstable Police officers also responded to assist as the pursuit was traveling east on Route 6 toward Hyannis.
State troopers successfully deployed spike strips in the area of Exit 6. HN arrived on scene as the vehicle was beginning to smoke, finally stopping just past Exit 6 eastbound, with at least one shredded tire.
According to radio transmissions, the female driver did not initially comply with orders and the state police had a K9 unit en route from off-Cape to assist if necessary.
As you will see in the footage, shortly after HN arrived on scene, a number of troopers approached the driver from both sides of the vehicle, guns and Tasers drawn, yelling at her to keep her hands on the steering wheel. Barnstable Police officers were also on scene assisting. The video then shows the suspect in custody, being walked back to a state police cruiser.
