Cottage fire in Dennis [Video]… plus other news briefs and photos…
SOUTH DENNIS – At about 11:21PM last evening, firefighters responded to a fire inside a cottage at 143 Mayfair Road.
According to radio transmissions, flames were initially visible and there was a notable smoke condition inside the small cottage. First responders were also concerned about a large propane gas tank located on the outside wall of the building.
Firefighters also responded from Yarmouth to assisted as needed…
The first firefighters on scene quickly ran a hose and had the fire under control within minutes.
A female who was inside the cottage during the fire was taken into Protective Custody for reportedly being highly intoxicated.
One source said the fire may have started on a stovetop.
Fire officials are still investigating and will be speaking with the female who was inside the residence after she sobers up.
There were no injuries reported.

A dense and heavy fog rolled into downtown HyTown last evening. The bars were packed and people were out having a good time…
… but sometimes libations, fog, and jubilation can quickly turn into disorder.
Members of the Street Crime Unit monitored potential trouble spots and mingled amid lingering groups, keeping everyone moving and out of trouble, at least for the time being.

In other news:

Hyannis firefighters responded to the Hyannis Travel Inn this morning at about 2:00AM for a fire in the electrical room. The fire was extinguished upon their arrival. Guests had to briefly evacuate… and firefighters had to remain on scene for a while to ensure the fire didn’t extend further…
