THE WEE HOURS: Domestic disturbance suspect arrested after alarming tirade in family neighborhood… [RAW HN VIDEO]
HYANNIS – Police listened patiently to an irate man early this morning, but needed to finally arrest him when he wouldn’t cooperate and settle down… disturbing a family neighborhood at a time when people were trying to sleep.
At about 2:00AM, Barnstable police responded to what was described as a volatile domestic disturbance in the area of Franklin Ave.
A man was allegedly outside trying to break a car window according to the initial report from dispatch…
Police learned the man had left the area on a bicycle just prior to their arrival. Police, however, encountered the man on nearby Fresh Holes Road and attempted to investigate.
At some point during the investigation, police needed to detain the man in handcuffs…
When HN arrived at the scene, the man was loudly swearing at officers and refused to cooperate. The suspect was very angry and reportedly intoxicated. A HN camera was rolling and captured a couple snippets of the volatile exchange that went on for about ten or more minutes.
Police patiently tried to reason with the suspect, but it reached a point where a decision was made to place him under arrest for Disorderly Conduct as he was disturbing the neighborhood. The man was also held in Protective Custody for reportedly being intoxicated. It remains uncertain as to why the man was so irate and uncooperative.
HN NOTE: Police were more than respectful and patient with this individual. Especially when he was verbally abusing the officers with swears (which is highly uncalled-for and not very nice). One of the patrolmen made a comment off camera to the suspect, saying that they don’t go out of their way looking just to arrest people. The following video is proof of that statement, as police showed an abundance of patience and held off arresting the man until they had little other choice…
Peace was ultimately restored to the neighborhood.
The bottom line, when interacting with police, it’s best to remain calm. Cooler heads prevail…
