COTUIT – A person out for a stroll noticed light white smoke puffing out of the eves and alerted firefighters shortly after 6:30 a.m. this morning.
As you will see in the following HN Video, Cotuit firefighters arrived at 100 Mooring Drive, observed smoke, breached the front entrance and found an unoccupied home with about 25% fire involvement.
Mutual aid crews from COMM FD and Mashpee FD also made their way to the scene to assist.
According to an on-camera interview with Chief Paul Rhude of the Cotuit Fire Department, the fire started in the basement/first floor area and burned through to the attic.
Firefighters extinguished the fire and began looking into the cause. At the time of the following interview, Chief Rhude reported the cause was still undetermined.
The State Fire Marshal was called in to conduct an investigation, along with an investigator from Centerville FD…
