Crash through stockade fence knocks out power in Yarmouth… [VIDEO]
YARMOUTH – DEVELOPING – A woman was rushed to CCH after her Toyota Avalon collided with a pickup truck and crashed through a stockade fence finally stopping in someone’s backyard…
As you’ll see in the following video, HN arrived shortly after the crash and the homeowner pointed out the car which suddenly ended up in her backyard.
The Avalon had significant front end damage, there was airbag deployment, and damage to the windshield at head level… whether or not the woman struck her head and the degree to which she was injured has not been officially confirmed. (The damage to the windshield appears it possibly was caused by impact with something on the exterior as the indentation is point inward…) According to radio transmissions, the patient was bleeding profusely from a hand wound.
The Avalon also struck and wedged against a support line to a utility pole with high tension electrical wires up above. Some believe the impact may have sent a vibration through the wires, causing a nearby transformer to explode. A resident in the area of the crash said she observed a bright flash of light at the time of the accident.
The Ford 150 pickup truck involved in the crash had significant front end damage and came to a stop after skidding across a curbside corner of the busy intersection of Winslow Gray Road and Forest Road.
The accident occurred at about 12:55PM and police immediately received reports of power outages as far away as the lights near the Cape Cod Hospital. All traffic lights from Bakers Square back to the accident scene appeared to be completely inoperative shortly after the crash…
The accident is being investigated by the Yarmouth Police Department.
