D-Y SCHOOL COPS: Juvie admitted yesterday’s bomb scare… racked up felony charge…
YARMOUTH – Police officers assigned to D-Y High School teamed up to solve and charge a juvenile with yesterday’s felony bomb threat, according to a YPD press statement…
On Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 10:50AM, a student found a note indicating a bomb threat.
Out of an abundance of caution, school officials decided to conduct an early 1:30PM dismissal and all of yesterday’s after school activities were subsequently postponed.
Today – November 17, 2016 – at approximately 11:00AM, Dennis Police Officer Patrick McCaffrey and Yarmouth Police Officer Nicholas R. Pasquarosa, Jr., both assigned to D-Y High School as “resource officers,” identified the suspect involved with yesterday’s bomb threat. According to a press statement, both officers worked closely with school administrators prior to releasing their findings.
According to police, a 16-year-old male student admitted to the crime and is being charged accordingly. The juvenile suspect is also facing immediate disciplinary action by school officials, but because of his age, his name will not be released… and the student will be arraigned at Barnstable District Juvenile Court in the “near future.”
Yarmouth Police commended everyone for bringing the investigation to conclusion within 24 hours.
According to Massachusetts Law, a person convicted of making a bomb threat can face up to 20 years in state prison and a fine of up to $50,000.
The note which indicated yesterday’s bomb threat was secured as evidence. Today’s Yarmouth Police press statement did not mention a possible motive or any other circumstances which would explain what may have led to the teenager making such a note. There was also not any mention about where the note was initially discovered at the high school.
