DANGEROUS JOB: Taser deployed as cruisers scramble toward Route 6 to assist lone trooper… [HN VIDEO]
WEST BARNSTABLE – [DEVELOPING] – As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, shortly after 1:00 am this morning, officers from the state and Barnstable Police scrambled toward the highway to help a lone trooper…
A trooper on a traffic stop on Route 6, eastbound between Exits 5 & 6, radioed he was trying to get the driver out of a vehicle.
Radio transmissions indicate grave concern as troopers began an expedited response from miles away. Also, since the stop was in West Barnstable, a number of Barnstable Police units also began rushing toward the highway, very likely closer than state police backup units.
The situation escalated and a Taser was reportedly deployed (possibly along with some pepper spray) before the trooper radioed that the suspect was in custody…
A West Barnstable rescue ambulance also responded to treat the suspect for a reported facial laceration…
The suspect, a male, approximately late 20s/30s, was escorted into the ambulance and transported to CCH under police guard.
The suspect’s dark colored SUV was towed to the Massachusetts State Police barracks in South Yarmouth, where it was secured in the back lot for possible further investigation…
The following HN Video highlights police audio, HN Dashcam footage, and HN Video from the scene of the stop moments after the suspect was taken into custody. Details are from radio traffic and observations at the scene and HN will updated with official details, including charges, as they become available, hopefully later in the day…
UPDATE: HN has reached out to the Massachusetts State Police Media Relations Department and will update details as soon as I hear back…
