*** WATCH *** Dennis Firefighters save building from blaze that started in the basement…
DENNIS – Dennis firefighters rushed to 828 Route 6A early this after receiving reports of smoke coming from the basement of a vacant house/office building. As you’ll hear in the following HN Video, the first Dennis Police Patrolman on scene radioed that flames were showing.
The house located right next door to the Cape Cod Center for the Arts served as an attorney at law office up until recently. It was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
Firefighters quickly attacked the basement fire though a basement window prior to additional crew members entering the building from the back and the front. According to Chief Robert Brown of the Dennis Fire Department, they were able to knock down the flames, but not before they burned through the floor near the front of the building.
While checking for extension, crews focused on the wall with the building’s main electrical panel. The fire may have been electrical related based all on early indicators.
Members of the Yarmouth Fire Department also assisted on scene.
No injuries reported.
The following HN Video begins with an interview with Chief Brown prior to flashing back to earlier shots of the scene.
