WEST DENNIS – [DEVELOPING] – A residence was surrounded by police officers, a couple with patrol rifles, after receiving a report of a possible stabbing where the possible suspect was described as a “guy with a mask like they wore on The Purge,” with an “American flag on it.”
According to Wikipedia, “The Purge is an American media franchise centered on a series of dystopian action horror films distributed by Universal Pictures… The films present a near future dystopian America which celebrates an annual national holiday known as the Purge, a day in which all crime, including murder, becomes legal for a 12-hour period.”
Last evening wasn’t a motion picture show – it was reality – and officers did not know what to expect as they moved in on 184 Swan River Road shortly before 10:00 p.m..
As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, according to a caller who had been communicating with the alleged victim on Facebook Live, someone possibly entered the residence and stabbed the male victim. The male victim then allegedly became “spooked” and left the residence on foot when he learned police were on their way. According to radio transmissions relaying information from the caller, the victim was allegedly “stabbed pretty good.”
Police caught up to the victim on Cob Way, a couple blocks from the scene. According to their radio transmissions, he was allegedly not being cooperative. Officers then put out the only description they could get from the alleged victim, that the suspect was wearing a mask “like they wore on The Purge, with an American flag on it…”
Dennis Rescue arrived and announced that a Medflight helicopter would not be necessary… but, at the time of this report, the alleged victim’s condition remains unknown.
HN arrived near to the scene and began rolling on video from a safe distance, not exiting the vehicle at first because a K-9 unit was on the way from Yarmouth, possibly for a track…
Details remain uncertain, but as you will see in the following HN Video, officers, including a police K-9, entered the residence, with patrol rifles at the ready…
This is a developing story and official details were not immediately available. The DPD is good about proactively sending out press statements whenever possible and HN will provide official updates as they become available. But as of right now, the alleged victim’s condition is unknown. It is also unknown if any possible suspect was taken into custody… Also, individuals in the area who witnessed the tense scene, asked HN what exactly was going, but then, and at the time of this report, official details have not been released.
