HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS – [DEVELOPING DETAILS] – The following HN Video shows patrol officers arriving at a residence where a man reportedly waived a firearm at two residents. At around 10:00 a.m. this morning, Barnstable Police officers surrounded 198 Bristol Ave. HN observed a patrolwoman speaking with a man and a woman who reported having a firearm pointed at them. Both were initially detained in handcuffs while officers gathered information. Both were obviously upset. The woman appeared to indicate that the male suspect pointed the firearm at her head. The male with the firearm was believed to still be in the basement of the residence when the first officers arrived on scene. As you will see in the following HN Video, additional residents (not believed to be involved at the time of this report) were called out of the residence with their hands in the air. They were frisked and eventually removed from the scene as the investigation continued. The male reportedly with the gun was believed to be barricaded in the basement while not responding to police commands. SWAT was activated, bringing numerous Cape Cod police and fire department resources to the scene. Vehicle and pedestrian traffic within the family neighborhood was shut down for hours. In the end, the suspect apparently had somehow managed to leave the scene prior to officers setting up the initial perimeter. The investigation is still very active and HN was told that the Barnstable Police Department is working on an official media release to update the public. HN will update this developing story as soon as official details become available.
