UPDATED: Yarmouth Detectives Bust Up Human Trafficking Operation… [VIDEO]
Actual Yarmouth Police media statement 4/29/20016:
Sharon Man Arrested for Human Trafficking in Yarmouth
On 4-28-16 the Yarmouth Police Proactive Anti-Crime and Detective Units coordinated a short investigation that led to the arrest of Kenneth E. Silva, age 48, of Sharon, MA. Silva is charged with Deriving Support From Prostitution MGL C.272 S.7 . Detectives developed probable cause that Mr. Silva was using #88 Wilfin Rd. in S. Yarmouth as a base of operation for a prostitution operation.
Human trafficking is a brutal and dehumanizing crime and, because of its nature, it is often unreported. Unlike the sale of guns and drugs, which when sold are gone for good, a trafficked person may be sold over and over for labor, sex or both. Experts estimate that the sale of women, children and men annually generates $32 billion internationally.
Human trafficking is present in every community. With the use of mobile communications and social media, human traffickers can easily enter any community and offer their services. Generally, human trafficking operations bring with it other crimes and substance abuse. The Yarmouth Police Department will continue combat human trafficking in order to create an unwelcome environment for human trafficking.

Initial HN report and video:
HN NOTES: Last evening HN began intercepting police surveillance radio transmissions related to what sounded like a nearby prostitution sting.
Eventually HN was able to pin down the transmissions to an area in Yarmouth. Undercover police and detectives were carefully and discretely watching a location where “Johns” were said to be arriving and leaving. There was chatter about getting signed affidavits and a nearby traffic stop where a male was taken into custody, a female was also detained at the stop…
[HN remained out of the immediate area as not to jeopardize the investigation…]
Shortly after midnight, plainclothes police and detectives served a search warrant at 88 Wilfin Road in Yarmouth. HN arrived shortly thereafter and took the following video footage of the scene.
According to sources, Yarmouth Police Detectives arrested a man for Human Trafficking. Detectives had just began investigating the address withing the last couple of weeks. The prostitution operation had been soliciting some of its illicit business on a website known as Backpage.com.
The man who was arrested was reportedly taking half of the money the women would make for himself. When police arrived to serve the search warrant, there were three young women, two in their 20s, the third in her 30s. Detectives are treating the women as the victims in this particular crime and HN left them out of the video footage.
The male suspect is being held in Yarmouth Police custody overnight and is expected to be arraigned sometime later today.
All individuals from the 88 Wilfin Road address are said to have come to the Cape from the Boston area…
This is a developing story and no other details were available at the time of this report. A press statement is said to be forthcoming…
