DISABLED WOMAN WAS SCREAMING FOR HELP: Domestic violence victim found on ground across from Barnstable Town Hall… taken to CCH… suspect in custody… [HN VIDEO]
HYANNIS – Police responded to a disabled woman “screaming for help” across the street from Barnstable Town Hall last evening.
As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, at around 11:00 PM, a woman driving down South Street heard the screams and called 911.
Police found the injured woman on the ground next to some cement stairs on the side of the old armory building, which now belongs to the Town of Barnstable.
The woman reportedly has a past disability where she is unable to walk and uses a wheelchair to get around.
But officers found she was suffering from new injuries which they believed occurred during some type of domestic assault and battery.
Hyannis Rescue responded and used a stretcher to lift the woman out of what appeared to be some sort of homeless encampment. The victim was then taken to CCH with injuries which did not appear life-threatening.
Police officers investigated and arrested a man on domestic violence related charges. According to sources, the suspect is also possibly looking at felony charges because the alleged crime was perpetrated against a disabled person.
The Barnstable Sheriff’s Department also assisted with crime scene photographs.
The following HN Video highlights the call and crime scene. Some of the footage is intentionally obscured. Also note, the following HN Footage ends with what appears to be an intoxicated man entering the area where the woman was found and bedding down for the evening…
