DISPATCH: Hyannis Fire is requesting Detective York… [Video]
Hyannis – A BPD Detective was called in to investigate a suspicious early morning fire…
At 1:15am, Hyannis Firefighters and Barnstable Police patrol units rushed to 43 Hiramar Road after a next door neighbor reported flames coming out the back door…
The first Barnstable Patrol Officers on scene were unable to make contact with any occupants… One officer saw smoke and felt the need to make immediate entry to clear the house, relaying over the police radio, “I can try kicking in the front door.”
Dispatch confirmed the radio transmission but had the patrolman hold off due to hazardous thick smoke…
… it turn out that nobody was inside after all.
An occupant of 43 Hiramar Road showed up across the street from the fire shortly after firefighters entered and began working…
The female told police that all occupants had been over at a neighbor’s house…
Hyannis Firefighters had just knocked down the fire and were beginning to ventilate the home, when they requested Barnstable Police Detective and arson investigator John York to the scene.
Investigating officers also requested the property owner’s name. An offense investigation number was issued and owner Grace San Juan’s name was entered into the call record.
There were no injuries reported…
The fire is under investigation and there are no further details at this time…
