Electrical fire at local beauty school quickly extinguished… [Video]
Hyannis – At about 8:15am, Hyannis Firefighters responded to the Empire Beauty School at 259 North Street…
A couple of employees discovered the small fire and Hyannis firefighters were immediately notified…
… everyone was safely out of the building when fire engines arrived.

A small basement electrical fire was quickly discovered and extinguished.
According to Lieutenant Hennessy of the Hyannis Fire Department, the fire appears to have started in the area of a small basement electrical outlet and was quickly contained, preventing serious damage…
A representative of Empire Beauty School said the school will be closed for the remainder of the day for clean-up… and will reopened tomorrow morning as normal…

According to witnesses, the toddler was barefoot and wearing just a diaper and t-shirt…

Barnstable police investigated and quickly located the mother…
The mother had just been released from Cape Cod Hospital and wasn’t feeling well. A relative was helping her care for the child. But when the relative went to work, the toddler took advantage of the opportunity to make a break for it and explore the area…
A nearby neighbor quickly discovered the toddler and police were contacted because it was not known for sure where the baby belonged…
Police found no malicious wrong doing… The mother also had no history with police and the toddler was reunited with mom…
Police are satisfied the baby is now safe and further investigation is not warranted at this time…

At about 11am, police responded to the 200 block of Main Street searching for a highly intoxicated man who called 911 and didn’t know exactly where he was…
The man was calling from his cell phone and said he was in an alley…
Barnstable police received the call from the state emergency dispatch and were able to narrow down general area of the drunken man’s location.
When found, police decided to take him into protective custody for his own good…
He was transported back to police headquarters where he’ll likely remain in protective custody for the remainder of the day or until he sobers up, whichever comes first…
