FOOT PURSUIT: Officer assaulted, but still made arrest… suspect charged with having 20 grams of coke… [VIDEO]
HYANNIS – At approximately 9:00PM last evening, Patrolman Joseph Green encountered 26-year-old Joshua Orr outside the Cromwell Courts housing complex.
According to a press release, Orr is known to the Barnstable Police for his involvement in violent crimes and drug related offenses.
Orr is currently on Superior Court Probation for a violent home invasion in 2009.
When Officer Green greeted Orr, he reportedly fled on foot, discarding an object against one of the buildings at Cromwell Courts.
A brief foot pursuit ensued and Orr reportedly became combative with Officer Green. Green sustained minor injuries during a struggle, but still managed to place Orr under arrest.
The item Orr allegedly discarded while fleeing was determined to be a plastic bag containing approximately 20 grams of cocaine, with a street value of approximately $3000.
As a result of the incident, Orr was charged with the following crimes:
- Trafficking a Class B Substance, Cocaine, 18-36 grams
- Assault and Battery on a Police Officer
- Resisting arrest
Orr was arraigned in Barnstable District Court today and his bail was set at $1000.00. Additionally, as a result of his active Superior Court Probation status, a warrant was issued from Barnstable Superior Court.
HN was nearby last evening when Officer Green came over the radio announcing he was in foot pursuit. The following footage highlights the scene moments after Orr was placed in custody.
