HELP SOLVE HAMBLIN POND MYSTERY: Waterside discovery of woman’s outfit, sneakers, and cash causes concern… investigation continues… [VIDEO]
MARSTONS MILLS – This morning at around 10:37am, a Barnstable Police Patrolman came upon a complete woman’s outfit and sneakers on the shore of Hamblin’s Pond off Route 149. The female accouterments were piled as if done so while undressing.
The pile included blue jeans, shirt, pink and white sneakers, pink bra, about $100 in loose cash, and a nip bottle. Based on the clothing, police believe they may be searching for a “thin” woman…
Police became concerned someone may have went ‘skinny dipping’ while intoxicated and never returned from the water.
Members of the C.O.M.M. and Hyannis Fire Department dive teams responded and took turns searching the pond’s bottom.
K-9 tracking dogs searched surrounding trails and vegetation.
The Barnstable Harbormaster responded with their side scan sonar.
A drone was deployed along the shoreline searching vegetation.
A helicopter from the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing hovered while looking…
… nothing was found and the search continues.
The suspicious incident is being investigated by the Barnstable Police Department. Sergeant Michael Riley encourages anyone with any information to contact investigators at 508-775-0812. Police are obviously hoping for the best scenario of nobody being missing at all. Nobody is in trouble for leaving the clothing, police are just hoping to put their concerns to rest.
The following video highlights search efforts… [Press play]
Again, the number to contact investigators at is 508-775-0812.
