ABOVE: Barnstable police squad cars responded to the Stop & Shop gas station on West Main Street after reports of a violent disturbance in the parking lot. A cellphone was reportedly smashed on the pavement during an ongoing fight in which someone appeared to be getting strangled.
Officers arrived within minutes and quickly separated the two parties, restoring calm. The incident was classified as a domestic disturbance. Due to a language barrier, officers used a translation telephone line to investigate. Investigators determined that the woman was the alleged aggressor; she was arrested without further incident.

ABOVE: Barnstable police officers responded to a call from a man’s family, who were concerned he was in crisis and posed a danger to himself or others. The man was reportedly in possession of a knife and experiencing a mental health crisis with possible homicidal ideations.
Officers immediately made contact with the man near the intersection of West Main Street and Pitchers Way. He was cooperative and was placed into a cruiser. A Hyannis Fire Department ambulance crew responded and transported him to Cape Cod Hospital for a mental health evaluation. The man’s family also arrived on scene to provide support.
