HN PHOTOS: Man reports being robbed in Hyannis East End…

HYANNIS – [HN NOTES] – Shortly after midnight, early this morning – May 14, 2023 – Barnstable Patrol Officers were dispatched to the vicinity of Center Street near the Transportation Center for a possible robbery.
A 67-year-old man approached a taxicab driver, saying he had just been robbed.
The victim reportedly told arriving officers that someone had just stolen $300 from him, along with his Nokia cellphone. There were no weapons shown.
The victim was believed to be intoxicated, and officers were unable to obtain too many details.
Officers searched the area for a possible suspect but had little to go on at that point in the investigation. Officers also made notes of surveillance cameras in the area.
The man was transported to Cape Cod Hospital for evaluation. It’s unclear if he was injured or just really intoxicated. When police ran the man’s information, it came back that his last known address was a town in Northwestern Massachusetts.
As mentioned above, police had very little to go on when the report initially came in. And they were not completely certain as to the true nature of what had just allegedly occurred… but on the other hand, the man was definitely upset, albeit somewhat incoherent and unable to fully communicate, repeatedly professing that his money and phone had been stolen. The investigation was expected to continue at Cape Cod Hospital, in an effort to reach the heart of the matter.
HN will provide updates if and when they become available. In the meantime, have a very safe and splendiferous Mother’s Day evening…
