HN SHOCK VIDEO: State trooper taken to CCH along with 2 other patients after exposure to Fentanyl during traffic stop…
UPDATE: According to a state police statement, the trooper observed a powder substance on himself and began to feel lightheaded. The exposure occurred while he was patting down the male passenger of a vehicle he had just stopped.
The trooper was transported to CCH and later released at about 2:30 AM, about two hours after he first experienced exposure symptoms.
The passenger being patted down reportedly had an outstanding arrest warrant. Arthur Ashley, age 37, of New Bedford, was also transported to CCH and later released after being examined for possible Fentanyl overdose symptoms. Ashley was taken directly from the hospital to the Yarmouth state police barracks for booking on the outstanding warrant. He was expected to be arraigned in Barnstable District Court earlier today.

Initial HN coverage:
HYANNIS – [DEVELOPING] – A firefighter came on the radio and immediately requested a total of three ambulances after a state trooper and two other patients were exposed to deadly Fantanyl during a traffic stop this morning.
As you will see in the following RAW HN Video, shortly after midnight, additional troopers, Barnstable patrol officers, and Hyannis rescue ambulances responded to South Street near the intersection with Ocean Street to deal with a scene contaminated with Fentanyl.
The young state trooper can be overheard saying he was feeling a little lightheaded as medics walked him toward an awaiting ambulance…
… it’s unknown whether he or the other patients were already administered Narcan.
Two other patients also needed to be taken in separate ambulances. A male needed to be stabilized on a stretcher, while the female was able to walk up and into an awaiting ambulance. Both were likely passengers of the vehicle, although that information has not yet been confirmed by officials…
It’s uncertain how the trooper became exposed to the deadly drug… it’s also uncertain as to what caused the trooper to stop the vehicle in the first place – HN will update when official details become available.
