HN VIDEO: “13-year-old boy” struck while riding his bike… taken to CCH with head injury…
HYANNIS – Police and firefighters rushed to the area of The Daily Paper Restaurant at 644 West Main Street earlier this evening after a “13-year-old boy” was struck by a car and reportedly hurt while riding his bike, according to emergency radio transmissions and witnesses at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene as passing citizens stopped to provide first aid.
The boy was reportedly conscious and speaking. He had at least one head laceration and had lost a lot of blood. (It’s uncertain if the boy was wearing a helmet or not. A witness did not see one. And HN did not observe one while documenting the scene.)
Hyannis Rescue transported the boy to the Cape Cod Hospital Emergency Room.
The accident occurred at about 7:00 pm and traffic was slowed as West Main Street was reduced to one travel lane.
