HUGE SUCCESS: Barnstable’s first Unity Day cookout and celebration on HyTown’s Village Green… [VIDEO]
HYANNIS – It was unity and burgers yesterday on the town green.
Hyannis natives Jesse Barboza, his brother Andre, Jonathan Thompson, Tim Lus, and other community leaders took initiative and teamed up with Barnstable Police Officers shortly after the horrific news of all the recent and tragic shootings in our nation…
… with a simple goal, unity.
Together, police and citizens from the community raised funds for a cookout and celebration for the benefit of all.
The message was one of bringing everyone together in a positive way for a day of unity and recreation.
Aside from free food, there were games, music, dance, inflatable jumping castles, face painting, and lots of people simply coming together to have fun.
It gave police officers an opportunity to give and receive high fives… and, as you’ll see, lots of hugs…
You have to hand it to the organizers of this grassroots event, for it shows what is possible when everyone unites.
It also highlights the true nature behind what drives the majority of police officers in our nation, a sincere love for their community and the individuals they serve and protect.
It’s the truthful narrative that too many often forget – police are the good guys and we really need them, now more than ever… good officers need our prayers and support…
… and the large majority of our citizens truly appreciate all that they do.
The following video highlights Barnstable’s very first Unity Day! Despite being put together on relatively short notice, it was a very well attended good time for all.
Well done!
HN NOTE: The video takes over 30 minutes of highlights and whittles them down to about 8 minutes… it was a tough process because there were so many great shots of everyone having a splendiferous time. My personal favorite shots are the ones which include children and dogs… oh, and the dancing was awesome too!
