BREAKING: Two pedestrians badly hurt after struck by SUV in Hyannis… [HN VIDEO]
HYANNIS – [DEVELOPING] – Cape Cod Hospital was placed on trauma alert after two adult pedestrians were struck and seriously hurt earlier this evening.
At about 7:20 p.m., police and firefighters rushed to Barnstable Road, just south of the intersection with Winter Street, after receiving a report of two pedestrians struck by a vehicle.
First responders found both patients down in the wet roadway. It had recently begun snowing, winds had kicked up and temperatures had dropped. Ambulance workers hustled to get both patients safely onto stretchers and out of the elements.
As you will see in the following HN Video, both patients were transported in separate Hyannis Rescue ambulances to Cape Cod Hospital. According to radio transmissions, injuries were described as broken bones. One patient may have suffered a broken leg and arm…
Further details on the patients’ conditions are unknown at the time of this report. The female driver of the SUV which struck the two pedestrians remained on scene, visibly upset about what had just occurred. The Barnstable Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash. [DEVELOPING]
