HYANNIS – [DEVELOPING] – According to sources, Darrell Russ was the man murdered on Yarmouth Road yesterday at about 1:15 p.m..
Stunned witnesses told HN they found the victim down on the side of the road – half on the sidewalk, half in the roadway – still alive and fighting for his life. He appeared to have been stabbed multiple times [witnesses say]. The scene was described as a bloody one where those offering aid had their hands full just trying to get the victim to lay still.
According to emergency radio transmissions, police had named at least one possible suspect… but at the time of this report, nothing has been officially confirmed. As you’ll see in the following HN Video, several individuals were placed in handcuffs at the scene… but it remains uncertain whether any of those detained have been officially charged with a crime.
The following Raw HN Videos (including one sent in by cape_news) show a lengthy and ongoing major crime scene, where parts of Yarmouth Road were completely closed down throughout the afternoon and into the evening.
According to officials, the investigation is active and ongoing… and because this now considered to be an “apparent homicide,” the DA’s office will be handling the press releases from this point forward. HN will provide official updates as they become available…
* All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
