HN VIDEO: Another person hurt in crash at South Street & High School Road…
HYANNIS – A woman was taken to CCH after a two vehicle crash at the notorious intersection of South Street and High School Road earlier this evening.
As you will see in the following HN Video, both vehicles sustained significant damage.
HN NOTES: The intersection at High School Road and South Street is notorious for being especially dangerous, with its share of serious traffic and pedestrian accidents. Some blame the entire length of South Street, especially from the lights at Sea Street all the way to the lights at Ocean Street, referring to it as being one of the Cape’s last known drag strips; one which takes its reckless daily wave of texting-while-driving morons on a rare death race through school zones and family neighborhoods…
… and it’s as if our leaders couldn’t give a rat’s ass about the safety of those frequenting this particular area, let alone the safety of those families residing in the vicinity. And that’s the thing that has always baffled me; we ban the use of all plastic grocery bags town-wide, not because we’ve ever had a single sea creature harmed or killed by one here locally, but because some poor sea turtle in another part of the world was hurt or killed, albeit very unlikely by one of our bags from the Cape – but I digress, I love sea creatures… almost as much as I love humans – but as for those local humans that have, in fact, been killed or seriously harmed at South Street and High School Road, nobody seems to give a flying [rhymes with puck]. Is it me? But aren’t the lives of nearby school children, along with other pedestrians and drivers, equally as important as some poor sea turtle in Indonesia? I care to wager that when all is said and done, more sentient beings, sea life included, will have been killed or maimed by traffic accidents at South Street and High School Road than have ever been killed or harmed by plastic grocery bags from the shores of Cape Cod…
But I guess I’m just saying that I have never quite understood why this town cannot make that particular intersection safer. Am I missing something? And is it selfish or wrong to want to be valued and counted the same as a sea turtle in Indonesia?
I don’t know. And I don’t have all the answers. So, I guess we’ll just have to leave these things to the wicked smaht people over in town hall.
But in the meantime, stay safe out there my dear humans, especially if you ever find yourself passing through the notoriously dangerous intersection at South Street and High School Road.
