HYANNIS – Barnstable police are investigating a suspicious early morning dumpster fire.
Shortly before 1:00 a.m. this morning, Barnstable Police and Hyannis Firefighters responded to a fully involved dumpster fire next to the Cumberland Farms on West Main Street.
About ten minutes prior, police also were investigating a suspicious motion sensor alarm at the Country Garden store across the street…
As you will see in the following HN Video, firefighters arrived swiftly and wasted no time attacking the flames, right as the fire had been extending onto a surrounding plastic fence.
The fire appeared suspicious and patrol officers dug deeper, pulling up surveillance footage which showed a white male dressed in dark clothing entering and leaving the area just prior to the fire. The male appeared to be in his twenties. Officers have additional details and images that may be released later…
A member of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit was called in to help document the scene.
