HYANNIS – A wanted male allegedly took off from a traffic stop last evening but it didn’t take long for a young rookie patrolman and his field training officer to catch the suspect and place him in custody. The wanted male is now not only looking at being charged for the outstanding warrants but is also looking at being charged with Resisting Arrest, according to sources…
Unlike the passenger, the driver was not wanted and not subject to arrest… and eventually was free to go after officers finished checking things out.

*** WATCH *** HN VIDEO: Nissan Xterra yanked from woods in Mashpee…
MASHPEE – A young woman is very fortunate she was not injured early this morning after her Nissan Xterra left the roadway and plowed into the woods.
Police responded to the entrance to the Mashpee River Reservation at the intersection of Meetinghouse Road and Asher’s Path East shortly before midnight last evening.
The young woman was out of the car and walking around uninjured.
Friends apparently arrived prior to police and attempted to drive the SUV out unsuccessfully. It took a Capeway Towing wrecker and winch to finally yank the Xterra over downed scrub pines and onto a flatbed.

HYANNIS – Yarmouth and Barnstable police responded to a parking lot on Willow Street early this morning for a prisoner reportedly acting belligerent.

Mashpee firefighters responded to a fire at Dino’s Sports Bar…
MASHPEE — Firefighters responded to a fire at Dino’s Sports Bar at 401 Route 151 early this morning. According to radio transmissions, the fire started on the outside rear of the building. The fire was said to have been caused by a discarded cigarette and was quickly knocked down before it could extend through the building’s outer wall into the bar.
There was also reportedly a moderate smoke condition inside the bar that needed to be ventilated with fans. And the health inspector was also notified and made aware of the situation just in case…
