*** WATCH *** Police respond to possible hotel shed B&E attempt, involving man with Sawzall…
HYANNIS – [HN NOTES] – Earlier last evening – in a separate related incident – police were called to the Cumberland Farms on Route 132 for reports of an irate male who allegedly just attempted to shoplift several magazines. When police arrived they learned the man returned the items he was accused of having hidden on his person. A description of the male was given out, along with a description of the silver pickup truck he reportedly drove away in, including the truck’s license plate number.
A short while later, at about 10:35 p.m., police were called to the Holiday Inn on Route 132 for a report of man standing outside of the same silver pickup truck allegedly involved in the Cumberland Farms incident. The man reportedly had a Sawzall ready to go, and was allegedly about to cut his way into a storage shed.
As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, Barnstable Police squad cars converged on the general area looking for a silver pickup truck bearing Massachusetts license plate # 2WKS 81.
After a brief search, officers caught up to the pickup truck in question in the parking lot of Wendy’s, (home of the Big Bacon Classic three-quarter-pounder, amoung other hamburger sandwiches and assorted menu items…
… and it’s uncertain if the suspect actually had time to order, or not – but I’m guessing not.)
Officers were confident they had the man from the Sawzall call. And the driver and sole occupant of the silver pickup truck was then arrested on motor vehicle charges while officers continued their investigation into the Holiday Inn caper.
There was no further information available at the time of this report. And the following HN Video contains actual police radio transmissions from the Holiday Inn/Sawzall call, along with video of officers taking a man into custody in the Wendy’s parking lot on Route 132…
* All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law (or “hotel of law” – as may be happening soon, when the courts attempt to catch up on cases backlogged from the pandemic…).
