HN PHOTOS: Hyannis Firefighters quickly check for extension after deck catches fire…
HYANNIS – At about 7:00 p.m. this evening, Hyannis Firefighters responded to the Cape Cod Melody Village Condominiums after a deck caught on fire. The resident had been grilling on the deck and was able to quickly extinguish what started as a small fire. The resident then did the right thing, calling the fire department at the first signs of extension into the building.
Firefighters cut into the wall and wet down the area around the joists. Firefighters remained working the scene for approximately 1.5 hours, checking for extension.
The condo complex is comprised of about 30 townhouse style units, and each unit has an attached single-car garage, according to online sources. It was extremely important to ensure that the fire would not start up again.
There were no reported injuries and although fire engines cleared about 15 minutes ago, Hyannis FD cars were still maintaining a presence inside the complex at the time of this report, at 8:55 p.m…
