*** WATCH *** EMERGENCY TRANSMISSION: “Caller states she was assaulted and then robbed… FD will be en route for injuries…”
HYANNIS – The woman had a hematoma the size of a golf ball on her forehead, saying she had been assaulted and robbed about an hour earlier.
At around 6:15 a.m. this morning, Barnstable Police responded to Captain Ellis Lane, where they encountered an injured intoxicated woman in the street, according to sources. The woman, in her early 40s, had just called dispatch stating she had been beaten and robbed.
The woman is reportedly homeless and known to the Barnstable Police Department. At this time, this does not appear to be a random attack and robbery. It possibly involves at least one other individual known to police, according to radio transmissions. Nevertheless, HN witnessed the woman’s head wound up close. She was obviously in pain, overwrought and suffering.
Police requested a crime scene photographer to meet them at Cape Cod Hospital.
The investigation is active and ongoing. HN will provide updates as they become available.
