HN PHOTO: Firefighters revive overdosing man discovered in respiratory arrest by passerby…
HYANNIS – At about 11:30 a.m., a passerby called first responders regarding an unresponsive male in the middle of the roadway. Police and firefighters arrived on scene, finding a young adult male on a paved access road between two apartment buildings in the area of Winter Street. The male in his mid-twenties was suffering an opioid overdose and was initially found in respiratory arrest. Several doses of Narcan were administered while an EMT used a bag valve mask to help the patient breathe until the Narcan took hold. The patient was also suffering a head wound, believed to have been sustained when falling during the overdose.
The young man was successfully revived and was alert prior to being transported to Cape Cod Hospital.
