*** WATCH *** Woman trapped after tree, wires come down around car…
WEST BARNSTABLE – It was a terrifying experience for a woman after strong winds brought a tree and wires down around her car last evening.
As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, at around midnight, police and firefighters responded to the area of 2495 Route 6A after receiving a phone call from a woman reporting that a tree had fallen on her vehicle as she was driving home. She was trapped inside and couldn’t get out… and it’s a good thing she didn’t immediately get out because the first Barnstable Police Patrolman noticed that her car was on top of a downed power line, in the middle of the road. The patrolman quickly requested Eversource to the scene “ASAP.”
Eversource, busy with trees and wires down across the Cape, quickly arrived on scene, making sure the power was secured. It was now safe for firefighters to clear away branches and free the woman.
The woman’s husband also arrived on scene and escorted his frightened wife to a nearby ambulance once she was out of harm’s way. Thankfully, the woman was uninjured.
HN spoke briefly with the freed driver and she was quiet, still a little shook up, but otherwise appearing relieved to be now safe and sound. She was then taken home by her husband.
Crews on scene removed the rest of the tree and reopened the roadway. The woman’s car was still drive-able and did not need to be towed from the scene.
The following HN Video begins just minutes after the first police and firefighters arrived on scene…
