INITIAL HN REPORT:
HYANNIS – [HN NOTES] – The outpouring of support and concern for Mary – including concern for the homeless in general – has been truly amazing!
Time and time again, HN readers have proactively stepped up to help – in short, HN readers are the best!
If you have been following along, you know that Mary’s most pressing need is basic shelter, especially during these frigid overnights. The main concern last evening (Friday, 1/21/22), with temps reaching the low 20s, was getting Mary off the street and in from the cold. And a HN reader/angel stepped forward at just the right moment!
Courtney Craddock, a nurse who works with the elderly, has developed an ongoing relationship with Mary and managed to find a downtown hotel willing to take Mary in for the evening. The Hyannis Plaza Hotel on Main Street said they will let Mary stay there for now, as long as it’s a good fit between Mary and their staff.
There are some funds left over from a previous fundraiser for Mary, but Courtney insisted on paying for Mary’s first night, more concerned about getting her off the streets right away. According to Courtney, HN readers can contact the Hyannis Plaza Hotel directly and donate money for additional night stays. (In the short term, that is probably the best way to help Mary’s situation…)
