*** WATCH *** HYANNIS NEIGHBORHOOD ORDERED TO SHELTER IN PLACE AFTER REPORT OF GUNSHOT WOUND…
HYANNIS – As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, at around 6:21 p.m. Wednesday evening – 1/19/22 – multiple Barnstable Police Department squad cars rushed toward an address on Quaker Road for a report that a male had just shot himself. According to a BPD media statement, a 32-year-old male gunshot victim had left the area prior to cruisers arriving on scene. Moments later the male was located at Cape Cod Hospital. He is currently being treated for what are described as non-life threatening injuries.
In their media statement, the BPD said they had “issued a ‘Shelter In Place’ order at the outset of this incident, however it was lifted shortly after as the scene was secured and the investigation revealed that this appears to be an isolated incident.”
As you will see in the following HN Video, a female related to the scene was later encountered in the Staples Parking lot on Barnstable Road. A Hyannis Rescue ambulance arrived on scene and transported the female to Cape Cod Hospital. It’s currently unknown as to why the female was transported to CCH. As you will see in the following HN Video, the vehicle the female had been traveling in was eventually towed from the scene, reportedly back to Barnstable Police Headquarters.
Sources mentioned investigators were seeking search warrants…
As of midnight, an address on Quaker Road remained cordoned off with crime scene tape, with police cruisers parked out front.
As you will hear in the HN Video, the initial report said that the male shot himself in the knee… but that does not match up with the injuries observed at CCH, where the male was said to have a gunshot wound to his arm, according to a source. He was also reportedly dropped off at the ER and the driver did not remain on scene, another source told HN. And yet another source indicated that the stories between involved parties did not match up…
Details still need to be officially confirmed as the investigation is very much active and ongoing at the time of this report. HN will provide officially confirmed updates and details as soon as they become available…
