IN OTHER NEWS FROM THE OVERNIGHT:
It was seemingly an ordinary fender bender [Thursday] evening on South Street, just before midnight, until everyone realized it wasn’t. There was a baby in one of the vehicles and it was scary moments for everyone on scene, especially the child’s parents. As a precaution, the baby was carefully checked out by Hyannis Rescue and was fine (thank God). Fortunately, it appeared the child had been restrained in a car seat… which helps.
HN NOTE: Please (actually “pretty please, with sugar on top”) drive extra defensively out there. And remember, other drivers on the roadway are not your enemies. So chill and be respectful of fellow motorists. Other drivers have hurries and worries and bad days just like you. And ever since cars were invented, accidents can always happen unexpectedly – they very rarely happen on purpose – but there seems to be a lot more of them these days nonetheless. So chill. Cool your jets. Hold your horses. Put the phones away. Remember, other drivers are not necessarily the Taliban. And please try taking your foot off the gas and downshifting Speed Racer! There could be a precious baby riding in the seat right next to you! or in the car right next to you! You just never know!!!
The Barnstable Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
