INITIAL HN REPORT:
HYANNIS – [DEVELOPING] – An HN camera was rolling when a dramatic scene unfolded early this morning at around 2:00 a.m..
Yarmouth and Barnstable police officers, some with guns drawn, conducted a high risk type traffic stop on Cedar Street after a Yarmouth patrolman announced he was conducting the stop in the Town of Barnstable. It’s unclear, but the vehicle in question may have just led officers on a brief pursuit over the Yarmouth town line into Hyannis. As you will hear in the following HN Video, the patrolman had his siren blaring as he announced the encounter…
Multiple Barnstable and Yarmouth police cruisers arrived and took four occupants out of a blue four-door Infinity at gunpoint, placing them all in separate cruisers.
One patrolman can be heard guiding additional units in to the rear of the stop in order to avoid possible “crossfire.”
The incident was still under investigation at the time of this report, but HN has confirmed that two of the four occupants were taken into custody and transported back to Yarmouth Police Headquarters on unspecified charges, possibly warrants and additional charges. HN will provide official updates with official details as they become available.
There were no injuries.
The following HN Video highlights the high risk stop as some backup officers were still arriving on scene.
