HYTOWN-LAWRENCE FENTANYL CONNECTION: Cops say notorious Hyannis recidivist pulled over during weekly drug run with 175 grams of wholesale priced Fentanyl and 28 grams of coke…
HYANNIS – Detectives believe their target has been making trips to Lawrence and returning to the Cape with hundreds of grams of wholesale priced heroin/Fentanyl on a weekly basis.
According to a Barnstable Police Department press statement, since October, their narcotics unit and the Cape Cod DEA Office have been investigating Jonathan Cotell, age 27, of Hyannis, for his alleged role in the distribution of dangerous drugs.
The investigation alleges Cotell has been making weekly trips to Lawrence in order to purchase hundreds of grams of heroin and Fentanyl at wholesale prices. The deadly drugs were then transported back to the Cape and resold to area users and dealers, the statement continues.
Cotell is well known to local law enforcement and has multiple convictions for drug law violations on his record.
“Moreover, Cotell is out on bail for a 2018 case where he was charged with Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest,” according to the BPD.
The Barnstable Police Department says: “Pursuant to the investigation BPD/DEA Detectives learned that on 12/6/18, Cotell was planning on making another trip to Lawrence to re-supply with drugs. Cotell was subsequently followed from the Cape to Lawrence and back. Upon returning to Hyannis shortly before 1 AM, a motor vehicle stop was conducted on Rt 132. Approximately 175 grams of fentanyl (street value is $35,000) and 28 grams of cocaine were discovered hidden inside the vehicle operated by Cotell. Cotell was placed under arrest for Trafficking Fentanyl and Cocaine. Cotell was held overnight at the BPD on $50,000 bail pending arraignment in Barnstable District Court.”
