Izzo leads midnight shift colleagues to fleeing violent suspect… [plus other news… including a tournament winning overtime goal by Patrolman Roycroft!]
Hyannis – Just after 1am on Thursday, Patrolman Joshua Maloney was sent to 11 General Patton Drive after dispatch officers received a 911 hangup call…
Upon arrival, Maloney discovered a female had been assaulted… there was also a significant amount of damage inside the home…
According to witnesses, the suspect had armed himself with a knife and fled just prior to patrol officers arriving on scene…
Several squad cars quickly set up a perimeter, as Patrolman Troy Perry and his K-9 partner Izzo hit the ground tracking…
Izzo followed a scent to the rear door of a nearby home, which turned out to be that of the suspect’s family…
Officers on the perimeter moved in, surrounded the residence, and managed to arrest the suspect without further violence.
Meanwhile a criminal investigation officer from the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office assisted with evidence collection back at the scene.
Joseph Lima (Top photo), age 26, of Hyannis was charged with Assault & Battery Domestic Violence and Injury to Real or Personal Property.
He was held overnight in a jail cell at Barnstable Police Headquarters and then arraigned the following morning at district court…

Above photo: Today, officers responded once again to the railroad tracks on Route 28 near Yarmouth Road for a gate malfunction. The gates were stuck in the down position creating a traffic backup for the second time this week. Today the gates were lifted much quicker than earlier in the week… the railroad company is reportedly working on a fix…

Local cops win Kingston Hockey Tournament… help raise thousands for 2-year-old with cancer…
Barnstable, Yarmouth, and Bourne officers teamed up to win the 2nd Annual Kingston Police Hockey Tournament…
The Cape Cod Black Knights was put together over ten years ago and is comprised mainly of Barnstable Police Officers as well as other officers from southeastern Massachusetts.
This year’s Kingston Hockey Tournament began on April 26 and raised about $7000 for ‘JJ Strong’… JJ McGrath is a 2-year-old Kingston boy battling a rare form of cancer.
The Cape Cod Black Knight’s roster included officers Stephen Estey, Sean Roycroft, Nelson Souve, Christopher Ross, Detective Brian Guiney, Sergeant Ben Baxter, and Sergeant Mark Cabral, all from the Barnstable Police Department… The team also included Yarmouth Police Officers Neal Donohue, George Tsoukalas, and Brian Carchedi… Bourne Police Officers Ted Economides, Matt Wahlers, and Lee Desrosiers… along with Burlington Police Officer Michael McDade.
The Black Knights fought their way to the finals after winning all three regulation games…
Patrolman Sean Roycroft drove home the winning overtime goal against Quincy Fire, the returning champs…
The team entry fee/donation for the tournament was paid for by the Barnstable Police Patrol Officers Union.
