Jaguar Convertible Leaves Route 6A, Crashes in Barnstable Front Yard; Driver Taken to CCH
BARNSTABLE, MASSACHUSETTS — A Jaguar convertible left the roadway around 1 p.m. Friday and slammed into a fence and a tree before coming to rest in the front yard at 3655 Route 6A.
The male driver, the vehicle’s sole occupant, was taken to Cape Cod Hospital. He suffered a head wound; the full extent of his injuries was not immediately known.
Minutes before the single-vehicle crash, police in the area were already looking for an erratic driver in a black convertible. The vehicle had been reported as unable to stay in its lane and nearly colliding with oncoming traffic.
Route 6A needed to be completely shut down for a period of time while responders worked the scene.
The investigating Barnstable police officer was issued both an accident number and an arrest number. What criminal charges, if any, the driver may face remained unclear. Investigators had not ruled out a medical emergency as a possible cause.

ABOVE: Hyannis firefighters hustle to launch a rescue boat from the School Street docks after a vessel reportedly caught fire off Osterville. The fire was already out when Barnstable Police aborted their own launch. A Nantucket Sound towing service then took over and towed the damaged vessel back to shore. No further details were available at the time of this report.
