UPDATE FROM THE YPD:
RUNAWAY JUVENILE ARRESTED FOR BREAK IN
On Monday May 27, 2019, at approximately 11:18PM, Yarmouth Police Department Patrol Officers responded to Papa Gino’s Pizza located at 940 Route 28 South Yarmouth for the report of an alarm.
Patrol Officers Jeff Rivett and Mary Gibney arrived and found an open window with the interior blinds pushed out from the inside.
Officers subsequently determined that cash and the cash drawer was missing.
At approximately the same time, a juvenile called Yarmouth Police Headquarters reporting he was lost. The juvenile had apparently run away from a Department of Children and Families Treatment Center for juveniles located nearby on Run Pond Road in South Yarmouth and was lost trying to return.
Patrol Officers Christopher Kent and Eric Rondina found the juvenile approximately one mile from the crime scene.
Yarmouth Police K9 Officer Mike Kramer and K9 Satu tracked from the crime scene directly to the juvenile and it was subsequently determined that the runaway juvenile had broken in to the restaurant and he was placed under arrest.
Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Unit was called in to process and photograph the scene for evidence.
At approximately 2AM, Yarmouth Police Department Patrol Officer Michael Cheung located a cash register drawer matching the description of the missing drawer along the fence line between the batting cages at Bass River Sports World and Planet Fitness.
The 17 year old juvenile was processed at Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters and subsequently released back to the custody of the Department of Children and Families and is scheduled for arraignment in the Barnstable Juvenile District Court today.

FELONY BREAKING AND ENTERING FELONY LARCENY FROM BUILDING
INITIAL HN REPORT:
SOUTH YARMOUTH – K-9 Satu and handler Patrolman Mike Kramer hit the ground tracking in the area of Long Pond Drive, following the scent right to their Juvenile B&E/Larceny suspect early this morning.
Shortly before midnight, Yarmouth Patrol Officers responded to an alarm at the Papa Gino’s restaurant on Route 28 where they noticed an open window and a shade that was out of place. It appeared to be a recent break-in.
Additional Yarmouth squad cars saturated the general area investigating possible leads and setting up a perimeter.
A caretaker arrived with a key and officers cleared the building, noticing that a cash drawer was missing, according to radio transmissions.
K-9 Satu and Officer Kramer began following a track which reportedly led right to their main suspect, a juvenile who had just recently ran away from a nearby residential program, according to sources at the scene.
The juvenile male suspect was taken into custody and transported to YPD Headquarters for booking.
Sources on scene informed HN that some of the stolen cash had been recovered and that once K-9 Satu was rested and ready, they would begin searching for the rest of it.
