Knock-down drag-out fight with naked man inside church… pepper spray was of little use… Tasers deployed… suspect and officer both transported to CCH… [HN VIDEO]
HYANNIS – Multiple police squad cars rushed to a knock-down drag-out fight with a naked man inside Saint Francis Xavier Church this afternoon.
At about 3:45PM, just as elementary-age children in their little Catholic school uniforms were spilling out into the Saint Francis Xavier parking lot to awaiting parents, a fully naked 22-year-old man was walking down the middle of High School Road from an area to the rear of the prep school toward Main Street.
Police followed the naked man into the church and that’s when what was described as a “knock-down drag-out” fight occurred which injured both the suspect and one of the first officers on scene.
According to a source, pepper spray was used and “Tasers” were deployed, all in an effort to secure the naked man in handcuffs… and eventually onto a stretcher.
According to witnesses, the suspect was carried out in what looked like a body bag… but then was removed from the bag and placed onto a stretcher. The suspect was then transported in an ambulance, along with rescue personal and two police officers, followed by a third officer in a cruiser, to CCH.
A Barnstable Patrolman, one the officers credited with making the arrest, and the one doing the arrest report, was able to walk out of the church to an awaiting ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
The following HN Video highlights the scene and some of the police radio transmissions… Check back for updates…
