LATE NIGHT: Driver badly hurt after vehicle rams straight into tree… [VIDEO]
HYANNIS – At about 12:45am, police and rescue workers rushed to the intersection of Mitchell’s Way and Pitcher’s Way after a Toyota veered straight into a large tree.

It is still uncertain what actually caused the driver to suddenly veer off the roadway, but according to police radio transmissions they received a call stating the driver may have been emotional distraught at the time of the accident. (That has not yet been officially confirmed.)
Initial reports stated the driver was seriously injured and bleeding profusely from the head area. Despite airbag deployment, it did appear the driver may have struck his head on the windshield. Aside from that, their were no obvious indications that driver’s life may be endangered. He was transported to Cape Cod Hospital.
No further information on the driver’s condition or the cause the accident was available at the time of this report.
The accident is being investigated by the Barnstable Police.
