UPDATE FROM THE SANDWICH PD:
The Sandwich Police Department is investigating a single vehicle accident resulting in serious injuries.
The Sandwich Police Department responded to Farmersville Rd and Cotuit Rd for a report of a single motor vehicle accident at approximately 12:52am. A blue Kia Sorrento ran off the road and into a tree. Upon police arrival, the driver, a 40 year old female from Cotuit, as well as two juveniles, were trapped inside the vehicle. The Sandwich Fire Department also responded. The female driver was transported to South Shore Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. One juvenile was taken by MedFlight to Mass General and was in critical condition. The second juvenile was taken to Hasbro Children’s Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. CIO Wallace from the Barnstable County Sherriff’s Department responded and processed the scene. Accident Reconstructionist Officer Grigorenko and Officer Leslie processed the scene.
At this time, the accident is currently under investigation by Officer Kent.

SANDWICH – [DEVELOPING] – One of the patients was an 8-year-old boy according to radio chatter between the responding helicopter and firefighters at the scene.
Shortly before 1:00 AM this morning, a car slammed into a tree on Cotuit Road near the intersection with Farmersville Road.
The vehicle was heavily damaged. Sandwich police officers and firefighters arrived on scene and immediately began helping the victims…
Two young children were badly hurt.
A woman was entrapped behind the steering wheel and it took firefighters about 30 to 45 minutes to cut away the wreckage.
Two helicopters were summoned to airlift patients… one helicopter reportedly had to travel all the way from Connecticut, according to radio chatter.
Accident reconstruction experts responded to the scene…
A mutual aid ambulance from Mashpee also responded…
The Sandwich Police Department is investigating the crash…
