NOTE: HN is obligated to report the official facts whenever a District Attorney’s integrity is called into question. I appreciate the DA and the BPD for putting out their versions and findings. For many reasons, the people now need this level of transparency here on the Cape. Was there wrongdoing? I’ll leave that up to the court system. (I will say that the rumors were flying in this matter… and some were extreme, yet unfounded as of now. For example, there is absolutely NO current evidence of a second crash involving the DA, as has been rumored… Maybe the following HN report will help us get closer to the heart of the matter. Maybe not… but transparency is always the way to go in these situations, and HN is glad to be able to facilitate that.)
THE FOLLOWING ARE COPIES OF THE BPD’S INVESTIGATION AND REPORTS:

On Monday – March 6, 2023 – HN was able to confirm through Lt. Mark Mellyn of the Barnstable Police Department that the BPD was, in fact, investigating a possible past motor vehicle accident involving D.A. Galibois. According to Lt. Mellyn, the motor vehicle accident occurred on Barnstable Road in Hyannis on February 23, 2023, at around 11:30 a.m. There were no injuries reported and the matter was said to be under investigation by the BPD traffic unit.

Conversations with District Attorney Rob Galibois about the entire matter:
This past Friday afternoon – March 10, 2023 – HN spoke with District Attorney Rob Galibois via cellphone. He and his wife were on their way back to the Cape from a skiing trip to Vermont. When asked, D.A. Galibois told HN about a minor motor vehicle collision that allegedly occurred on Barnstable Road in Hyannis on February 23, 2023. According to him, he had been making a three-point turn just prior to the alleged minor collision. The District Attorney said he pulled over and exchanged paperwork with the other driver. D.A. Galibois also said that at that time – February 23, 2023 – he took the following photos of the other vehicle for documentation purposes. These photos were emailed to HN from D.A. Galibois right after our phone call. The photos show there may have been minor damage to the other driver’s red Audi sedan. The other vehicle had New Hampshire plates, and in the following photos, HN has obscured the NH registration numbers, along with the other driver’s face for the time being. The photos also show the District Attorney’s blue official state vehicle parked next to the red Audi. These photos were later submitted to his insurance company, according to D.A. Galibois.

“[The other driver’s] insurance carrier – Progressive – contact me / left message on Friday, Feb. 24. I called back that same day – I left message. They returned the call on Monday, Feb. 27. I spoke with agent and emailed photos I took when we exchanged info. I never heard back from insurance carrier and, as far as a I know, my insurance carrier was not contacted by his carrier,” D.A. Galibois said Friday afternoon in a text message.
During our phone conversation, D.A. Galibois was aware he would be receiving a civil motor vehicle citation from the Barnstable Police Department for “Marked Lanes” Violation and “Failure to Use Care” while making the three-point turn… along with a possible third civil charge of “failure to report” the alleged accident to the registry of motor vehicles. In a follow-up conversation on Saturday, March 11, 2023, HN learned that D.A. Galibois had been initially informed of the impending traffic charges by Sgt. Troy Perry, head of the BPD’s traffic unit. It was the District Attorney’s understanding that he’d be formally picking up the traffic citation at police headquarters sometime on Monday, March 13, 2023.
In a follow-up message, D.A. Galibois texted HN, “I don’t know if the other person was charged (civilly) at all. I also don’t know if they concluded whether our cars actually made contact – I really don’t think they did.”
The District Attorney also spoke with HN about a number of recent rumors that range from him being involved in a second motor vehicle crash, to him fleeing one of the alleged scenes. D.A. Galibois adamantly denied all the recent allegations and rumors flying around ever since the alleged very minor motor vehicle accident and paper exchange on February 23. The D.A. also adamantly denied – several times – ever being involved in a second recent motor vehicle crash.
HN has been looking into all the rumors and not one source has been able to provide ANY evidence of there being a second crash, nor any evidence that would support all the additional allegations and rumors. HN’s investigation is active and ongoing for the time being, but so far without a single bit of credible evidence that would corroborate the information and allegations submitted by tipsters. Furthermore, there has been absolutely no evidence that challenges or contradicts the statements already made by the District Attorney or by the Barnstable Police Department. As of Friday, March 10, 2023, the Barnstable Police Department was unaware of there being a second motor vehicle crash, according to Lt. Mellyn. HN is still investigating and open to any tipsters coming forward with credible proof that contradicts the aforementioned.
When asked if he thought the allegations and rumors were due to possible political animosity left over from the very recent election, D.A. Galiboise answered,
“no comment.”

English translation from French:
Love is a rebellious bird
That none can tame,
And it is quite in vain that one calls it,
If it suits it to refuse;
Nothing to be done, threat or plea.
The one talks well, the other is silent;
And it’s the other that I prefer,
He said nothing, but he pleases me.
(Love is a rebellious bird) Love!
(That none can tame,) Love!
(And it is well in vain that one calls it,) Love!
(If it suits it to refuse.) Love!
Love is a gypsy child,
It has never, never known a law,
If you don’t love me, I love you,
If I love you, be on your guard! (Be on your guard!)
If you don’t love me,
If you don’t love me, then I love you! (Be on your guard!)
But if I love you, if I love you,
Be on your guard!
(Love is a gypsy child,)
(It has never, never known a law,)
(If you don’t love me, I love you,)
(If I love you, be on your guard!) (Be on your guard!)
If you don’t love me,
If you don’t love me, I love you! (Be on your guard!)
But if I love you, if I love you,
Be on your guard! (Your guard!)
The bird you hoped to catch
Beat its wings and flew away,
Love is far, you can wait for it;
You no longer await it, there it is!
All around you, swift, swift,
It comes, goes, then it returns;
You think to hold it fast, it dodges you;
You think to dodge it, it holds you!
(All around you, swift, swift,) Love!
(It comes, goes, then it returns;) Love!
(You think to hold it fast, it dodges you;) Love!
(You think to dodge it, it holds you!) Love!
Love is a gypsy child,
It has never, never known a law,
If you don’t love me, I love you;
If I love you, be on your guard! (Be on your guard!)
If you don’t love me,
If you don’t love me, then I love you! (Be on your guard!)
But if I love you, if I love you,
Be on your guard!
(Love is a gypsy child,)
(It has never, never known the law,)
(If you don’t love me, then I love you,)
(If I love you, be on your guard!) (Be on your guard!)
If you don’t love me,
If you don’t love me, then I love you! (Be on your guard!)
But if I love you, if I love you,
Be on your guard! (Your guard!)
