HYANNIS – At about 3:30pm yesterday, a single engine Beechcraft airplane needed to make an emergency landing at Barnstable Municipal Airport after its front landing gear malfunction.
Firefighters and emergency personnel were standing by as the aircraft landed smoothly, cut it’s engine, and then skidded a short distance on its nose before coming to a stop.
The pilot jumped down and shook hands with a firefighter who had just rushed to the scene. The pilot was the only one onboard and was unharmed.
The plane was towed to a nearby hangar where officials will look into what went wrong.
