OCEAN STREET DOCKS: Nothing bad to report… [VIDEO]

HYANNIS — Not one person was mugged along the Ocean Street Docks this afternoon.
There were gulls, a warm breeze, and HN had the plum-pleasing pleasure of meeting some very congenial students from the Sturgis Charter School. A few even came over and gave my old “news mutt” a good scratch behind her ears, an appreciated gesture; Gracie Marie is a pit bull who has always relied on the gentle kindness of our more civilized HyTonians.
It’s spring and tomorrow is the first of April, but the question on everyone’s mind is whether or not the vernal weather has finally taken hold for good. And with a need for seizing the pleasant weather, as if it could suddenly disappear forever, HN focused along today’s waterfront…
It’s a time of year when students from downtown campuses are out and about, frolicking as they should, safe within their young selves, without worries and fear.
What I didn’t want to see today, the sex offenders, drunks, druggies, their discarded needles and aberrant behaviors, were nowhere to be seen. In short, it makes me happy whenever I don’t run into those unnecessary and unfortunate sights. It makes me happy for the children who are just trying to be themselves, free from that which is dangerous and unsettling…
And why shouldn’t our children feel safe and free to be themselves when out in the neighborhoods surrounding their campuses?
The following video highlights today’s scene where nobody was mugged…
